Food For The Poor is responding immediately following a 7.2-magnitude earthquake that struck Haiti’s southern peninsula, about 80 miles west of Port-au-Prince, early Saturday.

FFPC is busy preparing to get Jamaican students back-to-school, building sustainable communities in Honduras and Guyana, shipping and helping to distribute food across the Caribbean and Latin America.

So far in 2021, FFPC has shipped over 305,000 meals to Jamaica, and over $1.1 million in medicine and supplies to Haiti, Jamaica, and Honduras, with another container of food planned for Haiti in July.

Food For The Poor Canada, in partnership with CEPUDO, is working on building a sustainable community in San Antonio through a number of initiatives including building a school, supporting livelihood and income-generation projects, and building homes for families.

For students who have been thrust into an online learning environment, internet connectivity is only one hurdle, lack of a device is a more pressing issue.

Jamaica has been affected by the triple threat of poverty, the pandemic, and by recent hurricanes.

FFPC is grateful to have had the opportunity to complete St. Martin Primary and St. Martin Infant School in Jamaica with funds donated by the Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation.

FFPC was able to ship a container of donated soup mix to Honduras which has since been distributed to schools and orphanages across the country.

Food For The Poor Canada (FFPC) board and staff were ecstatic when their longtime partner, Food For The Poor Haiti, broke ground on October 28th, on a sustainable community in Derac, Haiti.
