You continue to make a difference in the world with your kindness – this Christmas your generosity will build a new school for children in Honduras!

Because of you and our new partner, CEPUDO, a new school will be built for the Grades 7 to 9 students in a community in Marcala. It will be a vocational school that will support agricultural learning.

Many students in the community end their education at Grade 6 as the nearest middle school is several kilometers away. The Marcala school project will consist of a new school structure for students to continue their education in their community and learn the necessary skills for a prosperous future.

By building a Centro Basico school and subsequent community infrastructure like homes and income-generating projects, the children will be on their way to a safe, prosperous community with the opportunity to earn a sustainable livelihood to support their families when they grow-up.

A vocational school built by CEPUDO and Food For The Poor Inc.

The municipality of Marcala is home to about 30,000 people. Most families earn an income preparing land or harvesting coffee on nearby plantations, earning approximately $5 per day; however, income is inconsistent and based upon weather conditions and the season.

The country of Honduras is an impoverished country with the highest level of income inequality in all of Latin America. With more than 60% of the population living in poverty and one of the world’s highest murder rates, Honduras faces many serious barriers to progress.

We know you are just as excited as we are to make a meaningful, tangible difference in the lives of families in Honduras. We can’t wait to get started!

Families in Honduras are facing hard times during the pandemic, but you can help!
