Food For The Poor Canada launched the It Takes A Village to Build A Village campaign in September 2018 with the goal of building sixty homes in the village of Derac, Haiti.

The Guyana Dance-a-thon event was successful in raising thousands of dollars towards building a village in Baramita, Guyana.

On October 21st, 2019 friends of Food For The Poor Canada joined together to raise funds for the village of Derac, Haiti and to support the rebuilding of the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian.

Food For The Poor is partnering with the Sandals Foundation to ensure that we can help Bahamians in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian as quickly and effectively as possible.

Even before Hurricane Dorian slammed into Great Abaco and Grand Bahama islands in The Bahamas, Samantha Mahfood has been trying to make contact with the principal of a school “that supports kids with different abilities” in the Caribbean nation.

Food For The Poor Canada hosted their Annual General Meeting followed by a cocktail reception to honour their donors and partners.

Shipped approximately 10,000 bags of dried vegetable soup mix, beef broth and dried cranberry beans to Haiti.

Staff, students and the community were excited to open the doors of the new Wakefield Infant School in January.

By opening a government funded infant school, the community now has access to free early childhood education.
