Earlier this summer, Food For The Poor Canada shipped a 40′ container with 9,787 bags of nutritious vegetable soup mix to Haiti.
Made from vegetables donated by Ontario farmers, produced and packed by Ontario Christian Gleaners and funded by Joy & Hope of Haiti, this soup mix will feed hundreds of families and children in some of the poorest areas of the country.
The soup mix was distributed to House of Blessing Orphanage, one of Food For The Poor’s beneficiaries:
“The House of Blessings would like to say Thank You to Food for the Poor! Because of your generous donation of vegetables, we were able to feed over 750 children and families. It is always a blessing to receive assistance from FFP and especially from the donor because we are able to impact so many lives in our community. We appreciate your continued support here at the House of Blessings! Thank you”, said Joana Desir, who manages the orphanage.
The community of Barriere Battant, in the western part of Haiti, also received the soup. This is a very vulnerable area where 80% of the population lives with less than 1 US Dollar per day.
Beatrice Justale one member of a family said she is very happy: “the soup is very tasty and healthy, we usually mix all the vegetable in our way but it never give us that taste. And the biggest thing again is all of us are sitting there enjoying the soup. Dear donor I really appreciate what you have done for us”.
We are getting ready to ship another 40′ container with vegetable soup mix next month.
