An incredible group of volunteers from Canada and the United States worked enthusiastically for three days to build this school. On Day 2, they did not want to stop working and even asked to stay longer than planned “enjoying the purpose and cause” said Clifton Li, the President of the Caribbean Chinese Association proudly.
The new school will hold up to 80 children in four classrooms and have a kitchen, separate boys’ and girls’ washrooms, an administrative office, sick room and teachers’ washroom. In addition, a park playground and a fenced compound enclosure will complete the exterior of the school.
The poor community of Kingsvale will benefit greatly from the upgraded basic school facility. Not only will the children have a more conducive learning environment, but the community’s overall profile will be enhanced as the school plays a key role in producing skilled and employable citizens.
Thank you Helping Hands Jamaica, the Caribbean Chinese Association and all the volunteers for making this school happen by raising funds and donating their time and hard work. What a great way for the CCA to celebrate its 40th anniversary! Congratulations and gratitude.
Food For The Poor was joined by the Caribbean Chinese Association and close to 40 volunteers to build Riverside Basic School in Kingsvale, Hanover, Jamaica.
