Gang violence in Haiti has made it increasingly difficult to distribute emergency supplies to communities in the south and southeast of the country affected by the earthquake. It has become very expensive to transport supplies due to widespread fuel shortages.
Although we are forced to slow down, Food For The Poor’s projects in Haiti are still ongoing. Food For The Poor Haiti is still accepting containers to distribute to other departments in the country, so FFPC will move ahead with sending the next two planned containers. Beneficiaries with access to fuel are still able to pick up food from the warehouse. FFPH is waiting for sufficient fuel to continue transporting emergency supplies.
We are watching the situation carefully and will continue distributing emergency supplies once the country opens up. We would greatly appreciate your generous support once this happens. In the meantime, as we hope that the government will take action to provide access to fuel, we send love and prayers to Haiti.
