Spicy Hill Basic School was funded in partnership with Sunwing Foundation and Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation.
The early childhood education facility serves a large local community and was previously housed in a nearby community centre. The facility was without classrooms, kitchen, playground or sanitation. During periods of rain, classes were often cancelled because of the roof leaking.
Spicy Hill Basic School was built to accommodate up to 75 children in a bright, spacious and healthy learning environment. The new school is secure, and furnished with all necessary educational modules including desks, teaching materials, books, and a computer and printer. The school also has a sick bay, kitchen, sanitation unit, fencing and playground.
