2025 SAGICOR SIGMA RUN

partnered with Food For The Poor Canada

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS

Father Ho Lung & Friends Foundation

The Bethlehem Home which is operated by Father Ho Lung & Friends Foundation, provides care to 60 abandoned children with severe disabilities.

The home also provides occasional food and shelter for those who live on the streets. Additionally, they provide free dental care and prescribed medication to low-income families in the surrounding communities.

This year’s funds will repair the roof of the facility, which also houses the dental and pharmaceutical outlets. Currently, the deteriorating roof leaves residents and beneficiaries exposed to the elements, especially when it rains.

These repairs are vital to restoring the safety and dignity of those that seek shelter at the facility.

Kingston Public Hospital (KPH)

Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) is the largest multidisciplinary hospital in the English-speaking Caribbean.

KPH’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) serves as one of only two public ICUs on the island. With only seven beds, the KPH ICU is often faced with overwhelming demand, sometimes treating up to 10 critically ill patients at once.

The restraint forces the medical team to set up makeshift beds, just to ensure people can get the life-saving treatment they need.

Additionally, the unit faces infrastructural and staffing challenges, including machines that are nearing their natural useful life.

The funds raised from Sagicor Sigma Run 2025 will be used to improve the facility and ultimately save lives.

Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre

With a deep commitment to restoring mobility and independence, the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre provides prosthetics and life-changing treatments to individuals of all ages, including children with limb deformities, aiding in their treatment and recovery.

Its patients have experienced traumatic injuries, such as motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, strokes, and other disabilities, including children with limb deformities and spinal cord injuries.

As a Sigma Run 2025 program participant, the centre is hoping to acquire essential physiotherapy equipment, to accelerate the recovery of patients and enhance their rehabilitation journey.
