FOOD SECURITY
Food is a basic necessity for life. As noted by the UN: Hunger is the leading cause of death in the world.
In 2023, 43.2 million people in Latin America and the Caribbean suffer from hunger. Sources: PAHO / FAO
Ending hunger and providing regular access to safe and nutritious food is essential for an individual's comprehensive development. Our goal is to leave no one hungry. We aim to energize children and adults alike. Food security is essential to removing one of the barriers towards an advanced life.
SUPPORT FOR FOOD SECURITY ENABLES US TO:
• Ship food solutions to regions and communities in need.
• Support school feeding programs for primary school children.
• Support campus food banks for university students.
• Support smallholder farmers with training, access to inputs, credit, and markets.
• Initiate sustainable programs, such as community gardens, chicken sheds, and greenhouse developments as long-term solutions for food insecurity.
OVERVIEW OF OUR IMPACT:
• Shipped over 34 million meals overseas via 53 containers to relieve families of hunger. Food items shipped to create meals include vegetable mix, rice, flour, and beans to communities in Jamaica, Haiti, Honduras, and Guyana.
• Built a school garden at Baramita Primary School in Guyana to help students learn how to grow food used in their meals.
• Supported communities in Guyana, Haiti, and Honduras with a total of 15 chicken sheds.
Thank you for helping us provide food and clean water during disaster relief efforts.
Our Food Security Fund aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goal #2: Zero Hunger.
